Missing teeth

Again, filling the gaps left by missing teeth can be achieved in a number of ways. Dentures are much more comfortable and realistic these days, and work well when there are many teeth missing.

Bridges, where a false tooth or teeth are held in place by the teeth on each side of it, are effective when dealing with smaller numbers of missing teeth.

The most realistic way of replacing a lost tooth or teeth is with an implant. An implant is a small titanium metal rod which is placed into the jaw bone, just like a tooth root. The bone bonds with the rod, forming an extremely strong support, onto which a false tooth is fitted. The replacement tooth looks extremely realistic and is very long-lasting. Implants can also be used to provide a much firmer support for dentures.

At Streatham we have our own in-house implants expert, Dr Ken Lim – if you would like to find out if implants would be suitable for you, please arrange a no-obligation consultation with him.
